Sparkly cupcakes for the bride and groom

Here are the wedding cupcakes as promised.  The bride and groom had 85 vanilla cupcakes with plum and scarlet butterflies.  One giant cupcake in vanilla with a chocolate buttercream icing on the base, also decorated with butterflies. The last photo is of the cakes in the evening, all dressed up and ready to party.

Wedding cupcakes

As promised, here are my most recent wedding cupcakes.  The bride and groom had 6 different flavours, each with a different handmade decoration.  The bride was totally delighted, which is always a real pleasure to see.

Another wedding cupcakes sneak preview

The wedding was wonderful.  Truly lovely.  Everything was gorgeous.  The cupcakes went down a storm and I have 10 zillion photos to sort through.  But in the meantime, here is another sneaky glimpse of the beauties.

Wedding cupcakes sneak preview

The last few days have been a frenzy of crystallising rose petals, stamping out daisy shaped decorations, baking, icing and decorating- all in a haze of pink purple and burnished gold glitter.  I have a wedding today that I have baked the cupcakes for (and lucky little me gets to go to the wedding too!)

The bride has chosen a selection of 6 different flavours (the wonderful benefit of cupcakes being just this- lots of flavours!)  And so along with these different flavours are different toppings and different decorations.  Marvellous mum has been on hand to help with the decoration stamping, champion washing up and entertaining Little brother who was extremely keen on being chief taster.

I'm so excited for today, I'm quite giddy.  I woke up this morning and looked out of our window at clear blue skies.  Lucky bride and groom.

On the menu today we have:

* Vanilla, with dusty pink vanilla buttercream, with crystallised rose petals
* Chocolate with pink daisies
* Sticky toffee pudding- with a secrete toffee sauce inside and a toffee buttercream, topped with purple daisies
* Lemon cupcakes with lemon daisies
* Carrot cake cupcakes with dusty orange daisies
* Cherry and almond, topped with a good old fashioned cherry.  Quite a combination.

More photos to follow later on, after the big day.  But here is a sneak preview

Regal in purple

So, for the Royal wedding street party we were invited to, I opted to go for the classic trilogy of vanilla, lemon and chocolate cupcakes.  I iced them with their partner icings of vanilla, lemon and chocolate, and coloured the vanilla icing to match the decorations on the chocolate cupcakes.  I went regal in purple and lilac, keeping the lemon cupcakes suitably girly with sparkly butterflies.

Post family wedding viewing on the telly at the farm, we adjourned to the street party, which was actually in someones barn- with the most gorgeous views.  The weather was warm and hazy.  Outfits were scrutinised, again.  (Bridal= triumph, cousins = pantomime dames) Cake was eaten and lawns were lazed on.  Perfect.

...and as a side note to this story, where the cupcakes were set up was just inside the host's house.  Darling boy, who is a pretty smart cookie, pointed at the ironing board you can just see peeking out in the corner of the picture, and said with real wonder and curiosity 'Whats that mummy?' The poor lad had never seen one before...Just goes to show how much ironing goes on in the Adventures household.  (ie, not much, my iron is currently in storage.Bliss)

Wedding cupcakes

Here are the photos from the most recent wedding Adventures in Cake baked for.  The bride's colour theme was red and ivory.  They requested a selection of flavours, so a mix of carrot cake, lemon, vanilla and coconut made up the tower of 80 cupcakes.  Hearts and butterflies and glitter topped off each cake.  The large cake was a double layer juicy lemon cake, also topped with butterflies and a liberal sprinkling of red and gold glitter.

The wedding was held in an old church in deepest Devon and the reception was in the Tithe Barn next door. It looked so romantic and cosy, the red and gold beautifully complemented the old wood in the barn.

Bronze stars and golden hearts

Love is in the air again.

The week marvellous mum came down to help out, as its much more fun with two- plus marvellous mum is much better at the maths involved in upscaling recipes.  I would always need a pen, paper, calculator plus a cool drink and a lie down to work out the maths sometimes.  I can do it, it just takes a while, whereas marvellous mum can work it out in her head in a jiffy.

Adventures in Cake had a big wedding order, 70 double chocolate brownies, and 70 carrot cake cupcakes, and banana and walnut cupcakes were the bride and grooms desire for their wedding party.

Testing out the recipes were a lot of fun and they all turned out mighty pretty and glamorous looking.  They were for a wedding reception in a Lawrence of Arabia style tent and I hope went someway to matching this magical, romantic setting.

The Welsh Wedding

Marvellous mum came to stay to help with this big order, and was the absolute wonder she always is.

130 cupcakes, with different, flavours, icings and decorations is a big job and two pairs of hands were very handy.

The blushing bride wanted a colourful collection of oranges, pinks and yellows, with sweeties, butterflies and flowers.

I am so pleased with how they turned out.  All they need to do now is travel to Wales from Devon and I can rest easy.

They are very safely packed into Marvellous mums car, and are well cushioned with iceblocks and clean blankets (as of course it is super hot and sunny today, ready for Glastonbury this weekend)

I really enjoyed making them all, its such fun- from baking the cakes, to creating the decorations and colouring the icing, checking that the different shades all harmonise and coordinate.

Its very pleasing to create something so girly and romantic, my perfect look.

I hope the weather tomorrow is as sunny as it is today, its perfect wedding weather.

Wedding cupcake preparations

This week I have a lovely wedding cupcake order to make.  The wedding is on Saturday in Wales and the Bride to be, who is a total beauty as it is, has requested a mix of cupcakes for their reception.  They are going for a mix of sticky toffee pudding, vanilla and banana and walnut, decorate with a mix of pink, orange and yellow buttercream icing, and have requested flowers, butterflies and dolly mixtures.

It sounds totally lovely and I'm really looking forward to making them...its all so girly and lovely.  I have really enjoyed making the decorations- I'm with Nigella on this one- there is something very meditative and relaxing about the repeated rolling and stamping out.  Seeing the colour scheme come together is very satisfying.  Next up is to make the cupcakes...
