'Saturdays wouldn't be the same without you...'

...So one of my regular customers at Tiverton market told me.  Ahhhhhhhhh, what a lovely thing to say- and bearing in mind this was only my 6th market, it made it all that much more the lovelier.



The weather was awful, high winds, buckets of rain and really cold.  Us stall holders were all expecting a slow, quiet day, but actually, it wasn't too bad.  It was quieter than usual, but those who had braved the elements obviously felt in need of a little treat, or reward for being so daring... and cupcakes and cookies obviously hit the spot.




This week, I had made rocky road (a chocolatey bar filled with marshmallows and crushed biscuits, with added golden syrup) as a new treat on offer- they sold really well, in fact they sold out.  Its always a nice feeling to be able to display a little 'sold out' card each week.


Also on offer were the sticky toffee pudding cupcakes- this week decorated with gold stars.  They are a fiddly and time consumer cupcake to make- but oh so worth the effort.


Next on the horizon for me is a wedding fair at Bickleigh Castle and a christening order - its all very exciting!

    Ooo, those rocky road bars look great! Normally, I don't like it as it has nuts in it, but I like the idea of biscuits! still the crunch without the nuts. what kind did you use? (if you can tell!)

    The biscuits are quite a plain affair- Rich Teas. I normally don't eat them- though my dad and I did used to enjoy them with a mini mars bars squashed inbetween as a sandwich- then they were more exciting.

    I bought two of your gorgeous cakes for my two little boys this Saturday 21st Nov and they loved them! Cheered them up no end in the dreadful weather. It's really nice to see homemade produce in the market - we must make the effort again!

    They had Toffee Buttercream and Vanilla with stars on. You've inspired me to make more of an effort with my Christmas Cakes for my eldest's school fair - i usually make mince pies with a star on but I think I might make a change this year. They're gonna love you once your little ones are at school!

    Keep your eye out for the christmas goodies on the stall at the market, I'm considering making mini mince pies for the stall as I make some very cute ones each year for us at home that always get scoffed as soon as they have cooled enough from the oven.
